Today’s Weather: Cloudy, flurries in the afternoon. High 26. 19 now.

It was brought to my attention this afternoon that a Chinese military satellite damaged during our brief war with China is deorbiting at a faster than anticipated rate. Space Force briefed me and the other NSC members on the matter after lunch. The president was on his way east to Iowa at the moment and doing media interviews on Air Force One. He was brought up to speed later in the day. In a nutshell, the satellite was damaged and rendered ineffective in the opening minutes of Operation Blue Vulture. Space Force has been monitoring the bird since then but in the last twenty four hours the rate of its orbital decaying has increased. Translation: It is going to end up dropping to earth at some point in the next week at its present rate. We may have to take action. China certainly can’t. The government there has more pressing concerns to worry about and suffice to say, they no longer have the capability to conduct ASAT operations. We’ll have to see how everything pans out.

Commander David Wertz is enjoying his first real day of leave after yesterday’s dog and pony show. I’m happy to see he is comfortably blending back into the family dynamic. This weekend he’s heading to Utah with Lori and Bethany to visit Megan. I’ll be staying in Denver to do a few Sunday morning news show interviews.
